FAQ
My availability
Sometimes I have immediate openings due to cancellations, while at other times there may be a few weeks’ wait before I can take on new work. Feel free to reach out, and I’ll be happy to let you know my current booking window.
Booking
Feel free to inquire via Email or Instagram. However, if we decide to move forward with your project, I’d prefer to continue communication via email, as it’s easier to keep everything organized there.
When you are reaching out, it’s totally fine not to have every detail finalized yet! You can decide on the specifics up until the day I start your piece. However, to estimate the time and price, I’ll need the following when you book:
- What are you looking to commission? (e.g., book cover/assets, character art, merchandise)
- How many images / characters / main elements are involved?
- If it’s a scene drawing, any ideas for the background complexity?
Once I have this info, I’ll provide a quote and estimated timeline. If we agree on the terms, I’ll send over a contract for you to sign.
What is needed for me to start the actual project?
For character-based illustrations, I’ll need a detailed description of the character’s appearance, including their clothing and accessories. Sharing their personality traits is also really helpful. If the scene involves strong emotions, please describe the emotional context in detail.
It’s also important to define the characters’ poses, as they play a key role in expressing personality and telling the story. The more context you can give about the scene, the better! If you have reference photos or examples of poses or emotions, feel free to share those too.
If there are no characters in the illustration, please provide a description of the main subject, background, and any surrounding elements you’d like included.
For book covers, To ensure everything is set up correctly, I’ll need the printing specifications: this includes the final dimensions, page count, and the platform or printer you plan to use for publishing. (e.g. Amazon, Ingram Spark)
About my workflow
Before moving on to anything final or polished, I always provide a rough pencil sketch for you to review. For character art, this typically means one draft, while for book covers, I usually offer two different directions since it’s a more complex process. For seamless patterns, the draft consists of the elements that we will build the pattern up from.
Please note that once the sketch is approved, major changes, such as altering the pose or costume, will require an additional fee, as they often involve starting over. Minor adjustments are perfectly fine during the process, but significant revisions after sketch approval fall outside the standard scope.
Once the draft has been discussed and agreed on, I move forward with the polished, full-color artwork. The price includes two rounds of revisions on the polished files – additional revisions are usually charged at $15 per round.
Payment and payment methods
Before getting started, I require a 50% deposit. Throughout the process, I’ll share low-resolution preview images for your feedback. Once everything is finalized and the remaining balance has been received, I’ll deliver the high-resolution files along with their press-ready counterparts.
I currently accept card/apple pay/google pay through Wise, I always send a payment link, no need to register yourself – and I provide an invoice for you for each part of the payment received.
Deadlines
Turnaround times vary depending on the complexity and number of images, but as a general reference, a book cover is typically completed within 10 to 14 days from the start of the project.
What kind of file types do you deliver?
By default, I deliver high resolution png, jpg and press-ready pdf files.
I don’t provide editable working files. If you need foil layers or special effects added for print, feel free to let me know – I’m happy to assist with those during and after the process.
Book covers and dust jackets are always delivered as print-ready PDFs.
Final files will be delivered via a Google Drive link. I typically keep them available there for about a month after delivery. Since storage space is limited, please make sure to download and save the files on your end within that time.
I keep the working files on my end, so if you ever need edits in the future, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Licensing
My pricing includes a commercial license that allows you to use the illustration for promotional or commercial purposes across both print and digital platforms. (Except for character art, which only includes a promotional license.)
Licenses are exclusive, meaning no other client will be granted rights to the same illustration.
As the artist, I retain the right to display the artwork in my portfolio, including on my website and social media, for self-promotion. Of course, we can agree on a sharing date to ensure you post it first, or coordinate a collaborative post.
Working hours
I’m usually available on weekdays from 10 am to 3 pm Budapest time (CET). While I make an effort to avoid working on weekends, I do my best to respond promptly to urgent messages.
Do you incorporate AI technologies into your workflow?
No, I exclusively produce hand-drawn illustrations.
